Haley Schlitz Taylor
Haley is an organizer, Gen Z advocate and the youngest Black law school graduate in U.S. History.
Twenty-year-old Haley Taylor Schlitz is a force of youthful nature, eager to recalibrate the misguided political agendas currently steering educational policy in and around her hometown of Keller, Texas.
As a former Keller ISD student and the youngest Black American to ever graduate from a U.S. law school, Haley believes students should have a voice in the decisions made about their education.
From book bans and selective history curricula to approving concealed-carry measures for classroom teachers and attacking LGTBQ+ students and their families, the radical political agendas being pushed by the current Keller Independent School District Board of Trustees and other Texas school districts inspired Haley to campaign for the Place 4 seat on the Keller ISD board.
Haley’s expertise spans public policy, education, and issues that directly impact Generation Z, and she recently helped create and lead grassroots organizing in support of the Texas CROWN Act. The Respectful and Open World for Natural Hair legislation prohibits discrimination on the basis of hair texture or protective hairstyle associated with race.
Haley is currently completing the “impact” year she opted to take – teaching government and social studies to students in her community – instead of a “gap” year after completing law school. She has spoken at events across the country on the issues Generation Z faces and how its diverse makeup and experiences will shape our nation over the next few decades. She was named to Brightbeam’s Top 30 Education Influencers for 2021 and a 20 Under 20 honoree by Diversity In Action in 2020.
Haley is a proud member of the historically Black sorority and Divine Nine member organization Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc.
