Nabilah is a lifelong fighter, organizer and community advocate, now poised to represent the state's District 7.
Georgia state Sen.-elect Nabilah Islam is a lifelong fighter, organizer and community advocate dedicated to advancing Democratic causes and values. Elected in 2022, she made history as the state Senate's youngest woman and first-ever Muslim woman elected to the position.
She campaigned on Medicaid expansion, racial justice, fully funding public schools, and protecting choice and voting rights.
In 2020, she served as a senior advisor to the Gwinnett Democratic Party, helping lead outreach to Vietnamese, Korean, and Latino communities. As the daughter of working-class Bangladeshi immigrants, she has dedicated her life to public service and helping support others. She was raised in Norcross and Lawrenceville, Georgia, and graduated from Gwinnett County Public Schools and Georgia State University.
Once taking office in mid-January 2023, she will represent Georgia State Senate District 7.
